In this discussion group, the main focus will be to discuss issues particular to aging women such as osteoporosis, heart disease, diabetes etc.  

In this role, the ideal candidate will:

  • Provide information to a group of a maximum of 14 women aged 55 years and older, about physical health conditions affecting aging women and how to either minimize or address them, what to expect with such conditions, and how to maximize a healthy physical lifestyle with these conditions.
  • Topics of discussion may include arthritis, obesity, heart disease, diabetes, osteoporosis, cancer, strokes or other health conditions for which you can provide insight.
  • Provide general advice and information on matters of well being
  • Respond to other questions or topics of discussion as raised by the participants where possible

This position is an in-person role at the Women’s Centre’s location in Pointe-Claire, where appropriate public health measures are in place with respect to Covid-19 and food hygiene.  Should public health authorities require a return to increased distancing measures, this group may be converted to an online discussion group via Zoom. 

WORK DAYS & HOURS: One day per week for a period of three weeks between mid-September and November 2021.  Each group session is 1.5 hours long.  A maximum of 30 minutes is suggested to prepare the weekly discussion in advance.    This three-week undertaking shall equate to 6 paid hours.  Please note: This position will be paid directly by the West Island Women’s Centre, and you will NOT be an employee of Kigi Agency

Work environment

The West Island Women's Centre is looking for a dynamic and friendly group discussion facilitator with the following experience:
 
  • Licensed or retired health professional with knowledge in physical health topics described in the description
  • Good understanding of the health of aging women
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, creative thinking
  • Ability to explain and answer health questions to and with a group
  • Technology: knowledge and experience working and navigating within Google and using Zoom (if required to social distance)
  • Bilingual English/French an asset – written and oral
